Program description

The course incorporates ethical consideration for navigating the legal landscape of implementation of employer-sponsored wellness programs with a goal of decreased insurance costs. The course gives an overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Employee Retirement Income Security Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act of 2008 as well as a review of tax consequences for these programs. The course uses a case-study format to explore the concept of a wellness based program followed by a discussion on the ethical considerations of implementing a wellness based program.
